Executive Function Coaching

Many capable students struggle in school — not because they lack intelligence, but because they have not yet developed the executive function skills needed to manage academic life.

They often know what they need to do. They just don’t know how to start, how to plan, or how to follow through.

If that sounds familiar, you are not alone. And it is exactly the problem I help students solve.

Tutors help with content. I help students learn how to manage themselves.

Through executive function coaching, students develop the practical systems, habits, and confidence they need to approach school with greater independence.

Over time, something shifts.

Students stop waiting for someone to tell them what to do — and know what to do next.

What Is Executive Function Coaching?

Executive function refers to the mental skills that allow us to plan, organize, manage time, and follow through on tasks. When these skills are underdeveloped, students often feel overwhelmed and frustrated — even when they are fully capable of doing the work.

Executive function coaching helps students build the specific skills and systems they need to manage their academic responsibilities more independently. This includes:

  • Organization and materials management
  • Time management and planning
  • Breaking large assignments into manageable steps
  • Task initiation and follow-through
  • Study strategies and test preparation
  • Managing long-term projects and deadlines

Many of the students I work with have ADHD or ADHD-related executive function challenges. Coaching provides the structure, accountability, and practical strategies that help them experience school very differently.
